Coming back to Ballet Academy East, as a guest dancer, feels like a major milestone to me.
A couple of years ago, I would have been concerned about impressing my former teachers and wanting to show them what I’ve learned since becoming a professional dancer with Miami City Ballet. However, I am less concerned about proving myself as a dancer because I realize that there is more to one’s passion.
Coming back to BAE allows me to share what I’ve learned with the current students. I have many fond memories of professional dancers encouraging me when I was a student and sharing their wisdom about what makes a great dancer.
Sharing the stage with a new generation of students, the same stage I grew up performing on, will be very inspiring. I am thrilled to re-join the BAE Student Company this spring but perhaps one never truly leaves. BAE is home and home is always waiting for one to return, arms wide open.
